Shepherd’s Pie

A comforting and flavorful Shepherd’s Pie filled with ground beef, peas, and carrots, topped with fluffy mashed potatoes.

  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1 cup Peas (frozen)
  • 1 cup Carrots (diced)
  • 34 cups Mashed Potatoes
  • 1 medium Onion (diced)
  • 1 cup Beef Broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • Salt and Pepper (to taste)
  • 2 tbsp Butter (for mashed potatoes)
  • Optional swirl of Butter for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the mashed potatoes by peeling and chopping them into chunks. Boil in salted water until fork-tender, then drain and mash.
  3. Cook the beef mixture in a skillet with oil, adding onions first and cooking until translucent, then the ground beef until browned.
  4. Add the diced carrots and peas, cooking for another 5 minutes.
  5. Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Assemble the pie in a baking dish, spreading the beef mixture evenly and topping it with mashed potatoes.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Serve after letting it rest for 5 minutes.

Notes

Feel free to swap ground beef with lamb or a vegetarian option like lentils.
