Mixed Berry Crisp

A delightful mixed berry crisp with a golden, crispy topping, perfect for family gatherings or a cozy treat.

Ingredients

  • 5 cups mixed berries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch (or arrowroot powder)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss together the mixed berries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, lemon zest, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix together the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients and work it into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Grab a baking dish and spoon the berry mixture into the bottom, then sprinkle the topping over it.
  6. Place your baking dish in the oven and bake for about 30-35 minutes.
  7. Allow it to cool for about 10-15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an indulgent experience.
