Fresh Watermelon Lemonade

  • 1/2 medium-sized watermelon, cut into chunks
  • 45 large lemons, freshly squeezed
  • 11 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 46 cups water or sparkling water
  • Fresh mint, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the watermelon: Cut in half and scoop out the flesh into chunks.
  2. Juice the watermelon: Blend the chunks until smooth and strain for pure juice.
  3. Squeeze the lemons to extract about 1 cup of juice, removing seeds.
  4. Mix together the watermelon juice, lemon juice, and sugar in a large pitcher until sugar is dissolved.
  5. Add 4-6 cups of water or sparkling water to the mixture.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, adding mint if desired.
  7. Serve over ice, garnishing with mint or a lemon slice.

Notes

For sweeter lemonade, adjust sugar to taste. This drink can also be made a day ahead, improving in flavor.
