Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch thick slices
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 clove Garlic, halved
  • 1 lb Steak (sirloin or tenderloin)
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil (for cooking steak)
  • 1/2 cup Sour Cream
  • 2 tablespoons Prepared Horseradish
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon Juice
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Fresh Parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Place your sliced baguette on a baking sheet. Drizzle the olive oil over the slices and ensure they’re coated.
  3. Rub the halved garlic cloves on each slice.
  4. Toast the baguette slices in the oven for about 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  5. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Season the steak with salt and pepper, then sear for about 4-5 minutes per side.
  6. Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for at least 5 minutes.
  7. Mix together sour cream, horseradish, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt and pepper in a bowl until smooth.
  8. Slice the steak against the grain into thin strips.
  9. Spread a dollop of the horseradish sauce on each baguette slice and top with steak.
  10. Sprinkle fresh parsley over the top and serve immediately.

Notes

For a spicy kick, add diced jalapeños to your horseradish sauce. You can also use gluten-free bread as an alternative.
