Halloween Mac and Cheese

A spooktacular twist on classic mac and cheese, featuring Halloween-themed ingredients and creative presentation.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz Macaroni Pasta
  • 2 cups Sharp Cheddar Cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup Cream Cheese
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 4 tablespoons Butter
  • 1/4 cup Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Paprika
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • Optional Add-ins: Eyeball meatballs or veggie monsters

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Start by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the macaroni and cook according to package directions until al dente. Drain, but remember to save about a cup of the pasta water for later.
  2. Make the Roux: In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Sprinkle in the flour and whisk for about 1-2 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  3. Add Milk: Gradually pour in the milk while continuously whisking. Bring it to a simmer and watch it thicken.
  4. Incorporate Cheeses: Reduce heat and add cream cheese, stirring until melted. Gradually mix in sharp cheddar.
  5. Season the Sauce: Add garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper to taste.
  6. Combine with Pasta: Stir in the drained macaroni, ensuring every piece is coated.
  7. Halloween Fun: Fold in any optional ‘creepy’ additions, like green veggies or meatball eyeballs.
  8. Bake (Optional): Transfer to a baking dish and add more shredded cheese. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  9. Serve Hot: Serve immediately and enjoy!
