Ingredients
Scale
1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
½ cup sugar (more or less to taste)
Juice of 4–5 lemons (about ¾ cup juice)
Peels of 2–3 lemons (optional)
1 cup water (for simple syrup)
4 cups water (for lemonade)
Mint (for garnish)
Lemon peels and slices, blueberries for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Make the Blueberry Simple Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of blueberries, 1 cup of water, and ½ cup of sugar over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the mixture comes to a simmer, about 5 to 7 minutes.
Strain the Syrup: Remove from heat and strain the mixture into a bowl or jar to separate the syrup from the solids.
Juice the Lemons: Juice your lemons until you have about ¾ cup of fresh juice, and consider zesting them.
Combine the Flavors: In a large pitcher, mix the blueberry syrup, lemon juice, and 4 cups of water. Stir well and adjust sweetness if necessary.
Chill and Serve: Chill the lemonade for at least an hour, then serve over ice and garnish with mint, lemon slices, and blueberries.
Notes
Use organic lemons for peels if desired. Adjust sweetness based on personal preference.
