4th of July Cookies

Celebrate Independence Day with these festive red, white, and blue cookies that are a delightful treat for any summer gathering.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (250 grams)
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened (1.5 sticks)
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1¼ cups Red, White, and Blue M&M’s (10-ounce bag)
  • 2 tablespoons Red, White, and Blue Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: Flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. Cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  5. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the Red, White, and Blue M&M’s and sprinkles.
  7. Form the cookies by dropping dough balls onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for about 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

For variations, try adding chocolate chips, peanut butter, or citrus zest.
