Mastering the Art of Macarons

Create delicious, colorful macarons that are crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside, filled with your choice of ganache, buttercream, or jam.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Filling of choice (ganache, buttercream, or jam)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace by preheating your oven to 300°F (150°C) and lining baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Sift together the powdered sugar and almond flour in a bowl.
  3. Whip the egg whites in a clean mixing bowl until soft peaks form, adding cream of tartar after a minute.
  4. Gradually add the granulated sugar, continuing to mix until stiff peaks form.
  5. Fold in the sifted dry ingredients gently using a rubber spatula.
  6. Add food coloring if desired, folding gently until color is evenly mixed.
  7. Pipe small circles of batter on the prepared parchment, leaving space between each.
  8. Tap the baking sheet to release air bubbles and let the macarons rest for at least 30 minutes.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes in the preheated oven until firm.
  10. Cool completely on the baking sheet before filling with your choice of filling.

Notes

For perfect macarons, ensure that you sift your dry ingredients, and monitor your oven temperature closely.
