Homemade Chunky Monkey Ice Cream

A delightful blend of bananas, cream, walnuts, and chocolate, reminiscent of childhood summers and family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe bananas
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chunks

Instructions

  1. Prep the bananas by peeling and slicing them into ½-inch thick pieces.
  2. Blend the sliced bananas, heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Chill the mixture in an airtight container for at least 2 hours.
  4. Churn the chilled mixture in your ice cream maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions for about 20-30 minutes.
  5. Add chopped walnuts and chocolate chunks to the ice cream and mix for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Freeze the ice cream in an airtight container for 4-6 hours for a firmer texture.

Notes

For a nut-free version, swap walnuts for crushed pretzels or leave them out. For extra flavor, consider adding peanut butter or fresh berries.
