Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large focaccia bread
  • 1 cup fresh burrata cheese
  • 1 large heirloom tomato
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1/4 cup balsamic glaze
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven (if you’re making focaccia) to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Prepare the focaccia dough as per your favorite recipe and let it rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  3. Slice the focaccia in half lengthwise once it cools slightly.
  4. Prepare the burrata by gently opening the pouch to allow it to ooze.
  5. Slice the heirloom tomato into thick rounds.
  6. Layer the cut sides of the focaccia with olive oil, then layer burrata, tomato slices, and basil leaves.
  7. Add salt and pepper on top of the layers.
  8. Drizzle with balsamic glaze.
  9. Finish the sandwich and press gently, then serve or warm in the oven for a few minutes.

Notes

Let the sandwich rest for a few minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.
