Beef Taco Casserole

A comforting and easy Beef Taco Casserole that combines ground beef, tortillas, cheese, and salsa for a delightful family dish.

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 6 flour tortillas, torn into pieces
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (sharp cheddar and mozzarella)
  • 1 cup salsa
  • Optional spices: chili powder, cumin, garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brown the beef in a large skillet over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, seasoning with salt, pepper, and chili powder.
  3. Drain the excess grease and stir in the salsa.
  4. Layer the torn tortillas in a baking dish, add half the beef mixture, and sprinkle with cheese.
  5. Repeat the layers, finishing with tortillas and cheese on top.
  6. Bake covered with foil for 20 minutes, then uncovered for another 10-15 minutes until bubbly.
  7. Garnish with cilantro, sour cream, or avocado before serving.

Notes

For a healthier option, substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken. Can use corn tortillas for a gluten-free version.
