Deliciously Simple Apple Dumplings

  • 8 Medium Granny Smith Apples
  • 2 Packages Refrigerated Pie Crusts (15 oz each)
  • 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg
  • 2 TBS Butter, Softened
  • 1 1/2 Cups Sugar
  • 1/4 tsp Cinnamon (for syrup)
  • 2 Cups Water
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg (for syrup)
  • 1/4 Cup Butter (for syrup)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prep the apples by peeling and coring them.
  3. Make the apple filling by combining brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and softened butter in a bowl.
  4. Stuff the apples with the filling.
  5. Wrap each apple in pie crust squares, sealing the edges.
  6. Prepare the syrup by combining sugar, water, cinnamon, nutmeg, and butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  7. Combine the dumplings with the syrup in a baking dish.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. You can also try variations like caramel drizzle or adding nuts.
